Synopsys: Kyoukai no Kanata

                                               

Kyoukai no Kanata (境界の彼方, lit., "Beyond the Horizon", also translated as Beyond the Boundary) is a light novel written by Nagomu Torii, with illustrations by Chise Kamoi. The three-volume light novel series was awarded with an honorable mention in the Kyoto Animation Award competition in 2011, and was published by Kyoto Animation between June 2012 and April 2013. An anime adaptation based on the series was announced for October 2013, produced by Kyoto Animation.

Plot and Setting:

The story of Kyoukai no Kanata is set in a world where creatures from the spirit world called Youmu (妖夢, lit., "catastrophic dream") roam in the human world under human guises, and trained specialists called Spirit World Warriors (異界士, Ikaishi) protect humans from Youmu attacks.

Akihito Kanbara is a high school student who apparently has a Youmu lineage and a peculiar regenerative ability that exceeds that of a normal human's. In an unexpected encounter, Akihito saves a classmate named Mirai Kuriyama, who was about to jump off the school building. Following this encounter is Akihito's discovery of the world of Youmu and Spirit World Warriors.

Kyoukai no Kanata: Kuriyama Mirai

Mirai Kuriyama (栗山 未来 Kuriyama Mirai) is the heroine of theKyoukai no Kanata series. She comes from a bloodline of Spirit World Warriors with blood-manipulation abilities. However, because this kind of ability is considered as heretical among Spirit World Warriors, she became an existence that is shunned by many.^[1]

Calne Ca (骸音シーエ) is viewed as a derivative of Hatsune Miku, she was created by the 3D animator Deino. Her name comes from kara (骸) and ne (音), as well as CA (シーエ), the chemical symbol of calcium. This is due to Calne Ca being a mechanized skeleton with a skin or casing in the shape of Miku.
